چکیده

This study aims to analyze the potential of surface water meet agricultural needs in Kediri Regency, Indonesia. Data from government agencies (i.e., Indonesian Bureau Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agriculture Office) fieldwork were analyzed achieve research objectives. The data obtained consisted rainfall, temperature, infiltration capacity, soil texture, root depth, land area. resources was calculated by using Thornthwaite–Mather balance method. results compared with demands, which on basis area type crop, particularly paddy fields. Critical noncritical conditions for classified ratio between availability demand water. Results showed that total widely varied season. calculation indicated all subwatersheds (SWs) experienced a surplus rainy season, whereas almost SWs deficient dry Overall, critical season more severely this high can affect tropics. are expected be considered determining regional planning related use need supporting infrastructures.

Increasing agricultural water use efficiency to meet future food production

With the world’s population set to increase by 65% (3.7 billion) by ∼2050, the additional food required to feed future generations will put further enormous pressure on freshwater resources. This is because agriculture is the largest single user of fresh water, accounting for ∼75% of current human water use. At present ∼7% of the world’s population live in areas where water is scarce. This is p...

Hydrological Response to ~30 years of Agricultural Surface Water Management

Amongst human practices, agricultural surface-water management systems represent some of the largest integrated engineering works that shaped floodplains during history, directly or indirectly affecting the landscape. As a result of changes in agricultural practices and land use, many drainage networks have changed producing a greater exposure to flooding with a broad range of impacts on societ...

Consideration of Water Productivity for Farm Water Management in Different Conditions of Water Availability for Dominant Summer Crops

ABSTRACT- Efficient use of irrigation water for summer crops should be considered seriously due to rare occurrence of precipitation in summer. This research was focused on the assessment of water use efficiency for dominant crops of summer cropping pattern in the study area (i.e., maize and rice) via considering water productivity (WP) with different water management scenarios at farm level at ...

Analysis of chlorpyrifos agricultural use in regions of frequent surface water detections in California, USA.

Chlorpyrifos is a common surface water contaminant in California, USA. We evaluated five years of chlorpyrifos use and surface water monitoring data in California's principal agricultural regions. Imperial County and three central coastal regions accounted for only 10% of chlorpyrifos statewide use, but displayed consistently high aquatic benchmark exceedances (13.2%-57.1%). In contrast, 90% of...

Analysis of diazinon agricultural use in regions of frequent surface water detections in California, USA.

For five agricultural regions in California, USA, detection frequency of diazinon in surface water and several aspects of its use were determined from recent data (2005-2010): application method, product formulation and primary crops. Diazinon detection frequencies ranged from 10% to 91%. Application method and product formulations used were similar in all regions. The primary crops treated var...
